The appointment was ratified by the Nigeria Customs Service Board at its 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
In a statement signed by Engr. Ifeanyi Jude Ngama, mni, National Publicity Secretary of AANI, on behalf of the President, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, the association commended Nnadi for his decades of dedicated service and leadership.
“Your exceptional career, spanning over 30 years since your induction as a Cadet Officer in 1992 (Course 192), reflects steadfast commitment, operational excellence, and forward-thinking leadership across numerous commands,” the association said.
DCG Nnadi’s career has seen him serve across various commands in Yobe, Kwara, and Lagos, as well as at the Murtala Mohammed Airport and several zonal headquarters. His tenure as Customs Area Controller at Tin Can Island Port Command was particularly remarkable, with the command generating over ₦1.046 trillion in revenue between January and October 2024 — a record achievement in the Service’s history.
His accomplishments have earned him multiple awards, including:
Outstanding Customs Area Controller of the Year 2024 by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON)
The Comptroller-General’s Special Award for Workplace Transformation
The Distinctive Performance Award from the Comptroller General of Customs
He also championed the Time Release Study (TRS) initiative, which significantly boosted efficiency and trade facilitation within the Service.
Describing him as a “visionary strategist, respected leader, and humble, ethical professional,” AANI emphasized that Nnadi’s appointment was both a recognition of his professional excellence and an affirmation of the South East’s representation in the top management of the Customs Service.
“We are confident that your strategic insight and experience will continue to contribute meaningfully to the national direction and operational reforms of the Service,” the statement added.
The AANI family concluded with prayers for God’s wisdom, protection, and guidance for DCG Nnadi as he assumes his new role.
