Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday, made headlines in Osogbo after he stunned a roadside puff-puff seller with an unexpected act of kindness during a solidarity rally organized by state workers.
The governor, who joined thousands of jubilant public servants in what was described as an “appreciation rally,” spotted the female vendor by the roadside and beckoned her to approach his vehicle. In a video from the event, Adeleke, fondly called the “Dancing Governor,” asked how much it would cost to buy all her puff-puff snacks.
To the surprise of the crowd, Adeleke handed her ₦50,000 in cash — far above the value of the snacks. Excited onlookers cheered loudly as the snacks were shared among people at the rally.
The encounter took an even more dramatic turn when the governor invited the vendor into his bus. In a brief conversation, the woman revealed that she holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE). Adeleke further asked her about her cooking skills before instructing his aides to collect her contact details for immediate employment as a chef at the Government House.
The touching moment has since gone viral on social media. Confirming the development, the Commissioner II at the Osun State Civil Service Commission, Olaniyan Taofeek, shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“The moment Gov. Adeleke turned the life of a puff-puff seller into a Government House chef.”
Similarly, the governor’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Oni Gbenga Lawrence, also corroborated the incident in a separate post on X, noting:
“Moment Governor Ademola Adeleke turned the life of a puff-puff seller to Government Chef… not only ₦50k but he invited her into his car and employed her as chef in the Government House.”
The gesture has sparked wide commendations online, with many Nigerians hailing Adeleke for his compassion and for recognizing the struggles of everyday citizens.
