Akume Convenes Council of State, Police Council for High-Level Security Talks

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has summoned members of the Council of State and the Police Council to a crucial security meeting slated for Thursday, October 9, 2025.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen.

According to the statement, the meeting—set to take place in a hybrid format at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa—will focus on urgent national issues, particularly those affecting internal security and law enforcement across the country.

The Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Emanso Umobong, explained that the Council of State session will begin at 1 p.m., while the Police Council meeting will follow at 2 p.m.

He noted that members are expected to join either physically or virtually, reflecting the administration’s inclusive approach to governance.

The SGF’s invitation, the statement added, underscores President Bola Tinubu’s renewed commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders to address the nation’s pressing challenges.
