Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the ongoing transformation of the state, saying no amount of political blackmail from the opposition will distract him from delivering good governance.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor dismissed the recent criticism by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the ₦100 billion loan approved by the Benue State House of Assembly, describing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

Governor Alia maintained that his government remains focused on transparency, infrastructural renewal, and the welfare of the people. He explained that the loan facility would be judiciously applied to projects that would directly improve livelihoods, boost productivity, and restore Benue’s reputation as the “Food Basket of the Nation.”

“Contrary to the PDP’s propaganda, Benue’s debt profile is still within sustainable limits, and every kobo of the ₦100 billion loan will be spent on verifiable, people-oriented projects,” the governor assured.

He added that the unanimous approval of the loan by the State Assembly underscores lawmakers’ confidence in his leadership and their shared understanding of the infrastructural challenges inherited by his administration.

Governor Alia urged the opposition to abandon what he described as “bitter politics” and acknowledge the new direction of responsible and purposeful governance taking shape in Benue State.
