The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), Dr. James Iorpuu, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for demonstrating what he called outstanding fiscal discipline and transparency in managing the state’s resources.
Speaking with journalists in Makurdi, Dr. Iorpuu lauded the governor for running the state without resorting to borrowing from any financial institution since taking office, describing it as a remarkable testament to responsible governance.
He said Governor Alia’s ability to sustain government operations and execute developmental projects without accumulating debt reflects visionary leadership and prudent financial management.
“For a governor to operate for this long without borrowing a kobo is a clear signal of accountability and commitment to the welfare of the people,” Dr. Iorpuu remarked.
The BSEMA boss, who also serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, noted that the governor’s financial discipline has boosted public confidence in his administration. According to him, the government’s focus on priority projects has been achieved through careful management of available resources rather than reliance on loans.
Dr. Iorpuu also rejected a recent independent assessment that rated the Alia administration as average, insisting that the governor’s performance has surpassed expectations and positioned Benue on a path of steady progress.
