Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared himself one of the most qualified political figures in Nigeria to lead the country, insisting that his candidacy offers both competence and national unity.
Speaking during a recent engagement, Amaechi questioned the preparedness of other political aspirants, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while stressing that his experience in governance placed him ahead of the pack.
“If you look at all those aspiring, including Tinubu, who is better prepared than I am? My candidacy offers unity because I come from the South, and we are not in conflict with any region,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor also brushed aside speculations that his political base in the state had weakened following the rising influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Amaechi maintained that he still enjoys massive grassroots support, citing his recent visit to Rivers State where he inaugurated the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Recently, when I visited Rivers to inaugurate the ADC, the turnout was massive from the airport to the venue, and nobody paid for that mobilisation. That should tell you where the people stand,” he explained.
Amaechi, who has contested the presidency in the past, said he remains committed to the unity of Nigeria and would continue to engage with stakeholders across different regions of the country.
