The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Advisory Council, Benue State, has called on party members across the state to conduct themselves with utmost discipline, unity, and commitment to democratic ideals as the party’s ward congresses take place today.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Barnabas Gemade, his Deputy, Lawrence Onoja and the Secretary, Emmanuel Jime, the Council described the ward congresses as a critical exercise that will determine the strength, cohesion, and future direction of the party in Benue State.
The Elders Advisory Council urged all party faithful to fully align with the call by the Governor and Leader of the APC in the state, His Excellency Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, stressing that strict adherence to party guidelines and peaceful participation are essential to sustaining internal democracy and preserving the unity of the party.
According to the Council, the ward congresses provide an opportunity for members at the grassroots to freely choose leaders who will serve the collective interest of the party and strengthen its structures ahead of future electoral engagements.
It noted that any process rooted in transparency, fairness, and respect for party rules will only deepen trust and confidence among members.
The Council further cautioned against actions capable of undermining the integrity of the exercise, warning that acts of violence, intimidation, or deliberate sabotage run contrary to the values and vision of the APC.
Party members were urged to resolve grievances through established internal mechanisms rather than resorting to conduct that could bring the party into disrepute.
While calling for calm and maturity, the APC Elders Advisory Council appealed to all stakeholders, aspirants, delegates, and supporters alike to place the interest of the party above personal ambitions, emphasizing that unity remains the party’s greatest strength.
The Council reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of the party in Benue State and expressed optimism that the ward congresses would further consolidate the APC as a strong, democratic, and people-oriented political platform.
