The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Misa Musa, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Ganye State Constituency by-election held on Saturday.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Professor Tukur Ahmed, announced the results in the early hours of Sunday, declaring Musa the victor after securing a total of 16,923 votes. He narrowly defeated his closest rival, Buba Muhammad Joda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 16,794 votes.

The tightly contested by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the state House of Assembly, following the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, Abdulmalik Musa, in May last year.

With this victory, the APC has reclaimed the constituency seat, further boosting its presence in the state legislature.
