Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped clergyman, Reverend Ephraim Yakubu, during a clearance operation in the Miango axis of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the cleric was abducted on December 3, 2025, in front of his residence at Agingi Village along Rukuba Road. His captors whisked him away into the surrounding highlands.
At about 7:40 a.m. on December 4, troops conducting a clearance patrol around the high grounds in the Miango area encountered the kidnappers. The armed men reportedly engaged the soldiers but were forced to flee following superior firepower.
Reverend Yakubu was later discovered tied beneath a rock formation, having sustained injuries during his captivity. He was immediately evacuated to the 3 Division Military Specialist Hospital (3 DMSH) for urgent medical treatment.
Security personnel recovered a fabricated rifle at the scene, along with a magazine containing eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Military authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
