A poignant message from a concerned voice within the Tiv community has sparked fresh conversations about internal disunity and declining political relevance.
Ayua Solomon, in a strongly worded social media post, expressed deep frustration over what he described as the Tiv people’s self-sabotage through constant internal wrangling and political infighting.
“Since we the Tiv have refused to help ourselves and are focused on politics, only those that are ready have taken charge — and we the Tiv are just number 13 on the list,” Solomon wrote, highlighting the community’s diminishing prominence in national affairs.
He bemoaned the community’s tendency to drag, oppose, and undermine one another, instead of fostering unity, development, and support for collective advancement.
“Even scripture said if men use the green wood like this, what will happen when it’s dry?” he asked rhetorically, warning of graver consequences if the current trajectory continues unchecked.
Solomon’s statement further warned that if the Tiv do not change course and retrace their steps, a time may come when they would be completely sidelined in key government appointments and national leadership roles — including possibly having to beg to produce a governor.
Despite the grim warning, he concluded with a heartfelt prayer: “May God see us through. Amen.”
His remarks have since stirred reactions among social media users and political observers, many of whom echo the call for introspection, unity, and strategic repositioning within the Tiv nation.
