Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed Chinese national Li Zhensheng as Economic Adviser to the State Government, marking a significant step towards deepening global economic ties.
The announcement was made in Bauchi during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre. The agreement is designed to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation and investment.
Governor Mohammed explained that the partnership would catalyse projects and initiatives across critical sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade. “We are opening Bauchi to the world,” he declared, stressing that the state’s development strategy was in line with the diplomatic framework between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
As part of the deal, Bauchi will establish a representative office in China to oversee joint projects and ensure timely execution. The governor expressed optimism that the collaboration would attract foreign direct investment, create jobs, improve technical skills, modernise key industries, and enhance the state’s global reputation.
Li Zhensheng, who also serves as Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged his commitment to mobilising resources and expertise to drive Bauchi’s economic transformation.
This move signals Bauchi’s readiness to integrate into the global economy and leverage international partnerships for sustainable development.
