A Benue-born entrepreneur, Dr. Solomon Aondona Igbayue, has expressed deep frustration over what he described as the endless harassment of private businesses in the state.
In a passionate Facebook post titled “WHICH WAY, BENUE?”, Dr. Igbayue lamented that despite his company, JUMIFA, fulfilling all necessary financial obligations to both the state and federal authorities, officials from the Benue State Ministry of Trade and Investment still sealed up the factory premises.

He listed multiple taxes and levies already paid by his firm — including factory registration, commercial Certificate of Occupancy (CofO), CAC registration, PAYE, and other statutory dues.
“Almost every ministry has a way of collecting taxes from Benue companies. All local governments do the same,” he wrote. “Yet the Ministry of Trade and Investment sealed JUMIFA! Is it a message that only the government is now meant to do business in Benue? Where is the encouragement?”
Dr. Igbayue’s outcry has sparked conversations among residents and business owners, many of whom share similar frustrations over what they call “multiple taxation and stifling policies” that discourage private investment in the state.
Observers say the incident reflects the growing tension between entrepreneurs and regulatory agencies in Benue, as calls mount for the government to create a more business-friendly environment that encourages investment, rather than crippling it.
