The Benue community in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Thursday hosted Nigerian cyclist Emmanuel “Emmiwuks” to a special dinner as part of activities marking the country’s 64th Independence anniversary.
Emmiwuks, a Benue-born adventurer, is on an ambitious solo cycling mission from Nigeria to the United States, a journey he says is dedicated to raising awareness about millions of displaced children in Africa.
His transcontinental expedition has so far taken him through Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, and now Côte d’Ivoire with each country marking a new milestone in his mission to pedal across borders and inspire hope.
Members of the Benue community in Abidjan described the dinner as a gesture of solidarity and encouragement for “their own,” celebrating his courage, resilience, and determination to represent Nigeria and Africa on the world stage.
From the streets of West Africa to his planned arrival in America, Emmiwuks continues to draw support from well-wishers along the route, proving that even the boldest dreams can be achieved one paddle at a time.
