Corps members serving in Benue State have called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to fulfil his administration’s promise of a ₦15,000 monthly allowance.

The promise, made in August 2023, was welcomed with optimism, but nearly a year later—by June 23, 2025—the funds have yet to be paid.

According to several National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members currently deployed across the state, the 11-month delay in the payment has caused deep frustration and financial hardship.

While the governor has received praise for settling long-standing salary arrears owed to state civil servants, corps members argue that they have been completely sidelined in the process.

“We are serving the state diligently, yet we’ve received nothing of what was promised. Eleven months without payment is unfair,” one corps member lamented.

The group is now demanding accountability and immediate disbursement of the arrears, urging Governor Alia to match his words with action and uphold the welfare of corps members contributing to the development of the state.
