The Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) has taken a bold step toward transforming Benue State into a leading digital hub with the successful hosting of the maiden Benue Telecommunication Stakeholders’ Summit on October 7, 2025, in Makurdi.

The summit, themed “Building a Connected Benue: Driving Digital Broadband Investment, Policy Coordination, and Digital Inclusion,” gathered key players from government institutions, telecom firms, investors, development partners, and the private sector to chart a roadmap for rapid digital expansion across the state.

Serving as the state’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for digital transformation, the BDIC reaffirmed its commitment to deploying world-class infrastructure that promotes innovation, improves public services, and empowers citizens through technology.

Participants at the summit commended Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his administration’s forward-looking policies and dedication to creating an enabling environment for ICT investment in Benue.

While challenges such as broadband rollout, right-of-way issues, and infrastructure security were highlighted, stakeholders agreed that these obstacles could be overcome through collaboration, investment, and coordinated policy action.

The BDIC urged all partners to sustain cooperation and place digital infrastructure at the core of Benue’s economic development strategy. It reiterated its mission to position the state as a major digital hub that connects communities and drives inclusive growth.

The summit concluded with appreciation to Governor Alia, his deputy, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and other contributors for their unwavering support.

With growing optimism, stakeholders expressed confidence that the initiative will open new economic frontiers, stimulate innovation, and make Benue a model for digital transformation in Nigeria.
