The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State is mourning the loss of its State Youth Leader, Hon. Francis Atondo Ibya, popularly called “Jahman,” who passed away on August 9, 2025, after a brief illness.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, the State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, described Ibya’s passing as a “devastating loss” to both the party and the state.

Ibya, a native of Mbayegh Council Ward in Ushongo Local Government Area, was praised for his unwavering loyalty, dedication, and steadfast commitment to the ideals of the PDP. He was widely recognised for his passion in mobilising young people and mentoring them to actively participate in politics.

“The virtues he embodied and his zeal for youth empowerment will remain an enduring legacy in our political history,” the statement read.

The PDP’s State Working Committee extended heartfelt condolences to Ibya’s family, friends, and political associates, pledging the party’s support to them in this time of grief. Burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.

The party also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for divine comfort for all who mourn his passing.
