Benue State has recorded another milestone of pride and excellence as one of its illustrious sons, Ikyobo James Aondover, emerged winner of the 2025 National Essay Competition jointly organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the African Youth Union Commission (AYUC) in Abuja.
The highly competitive contest, which brought together brilliant young minds from across the country, tasked participants to present insightful essays on the theme: “The Role of Youth in Promoting Human Rights in Nigeria: A Youth-led Call for Justice, Equality, and Change.”
Ikyobo distinguished himself with an exceptional essay that stood out among hundreds of entries, ultimately earning him the star prize of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000). His work was praised for its depth, originality, and the clarity with which it articulated the place of Nigerian youth in driving justice, equality, and societal transformation.
A brilliant academic, Ikyobo holds degrees in Mass Communication and Law, as well as a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy. He is currently undergoing training at the Nigerian Law School, Kano Campus.
Congratulatory messages have poured in from Benue and beyond, with many describing Ikyobo’s achievement as not just a personal victory but also a reflection of the intellectual strength of Benue youths.
“This is a great win for Benue State and for young Nigerians committed to justice and human rights. Ikyobo’s success shows the power of knowledge and determination,” one of the organizers noted.
