The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has taken delivery of a second consignment of brewing equipment for the Food Basket Brewery, signaling steady progress in the implementation of one of the state’s most ambitious industrial projects.

The latest shipment, comprising 10 containers, arrived today and brings the total number of containers received to 26 out of the expected 50 being imported from the People’s Republic of China. The first batch of 16 containers was received on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, who received the equipment, commended the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his vision and unwavering support for the project.

“We are looking into the future. This project will create jobs for thousands of graduates across Benue State and stimulate economic activity within and beyond our borders,” Dr. Asemakaha stated.

He emphasized the need to create opportunities for the growing number of young people graduating from institutions across the state, noting that the recent matriculation of over 9,000 students at the Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University is a sign of the urgency to invest in the future.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it—and that is exactly what His Excellency is doing. His recent trip to China was a strategic step toward securing Benue’s economic future, and more shipments of equipment are on the way,” he said.

Dr. Asemakaha revealed that upon completion, the Food Basket Brewery will generate over 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, while contributing approximately ₦400 million to the state’s monthly revenue.

He also disclosed that installation of the equipment will commence in the coming weeks, with more deliveries expected soon.

The Food Basket Brewery is a flagship investment by the Benue State Government aimed at addressing youth unemployment, supporting local enterprises, and leveraging the state’s vast agricultural resources.

Officials say the project will significantly transform Benue’s economic landscape, improve its industrial index, and boost investor confidence.

The initiative aligns with the Alia administration’s broader agenda of industrializing the state and creating sustainable job opportunities for its citizens.
