A tragic incident occurred in Dhaka on Monday, July 21, as a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft crashed into the Milestone College campus in Diabari, Uttara, killing at least 19 people, including the pilot, and injuring 171 students.

The aircraft, identified as an F-7 BGI, had taken off from the BAF Base AK Khandaker at 1:06 pm for a routine training flight. However, minutes after takeoff, it reportedly experienced a technical malfunction, causing it to plunge into a classroom building packed with students.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and devastation as emergency responders rushed to the site. Rescue operations were swiftly carried out, with injured students transported to nearby hospitals. Several are said to be in critical condition.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the crash and stated that a board of inquiry has been constituted to determine the exact cause of the mechanical failure.

This marks one of the deadliest training accidents in the country’s recent history. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and senior military officials have expressed their condolences and promised full support for affected families.
