Dr. Donatus Mkor Aondona, the suspended Special Adviser to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on Research, Documentation and Strategy, was arraigned this morning before the Federal High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He is facing a five-count charge bordering on cybercrime, sexual misconduct, and evasion of asset declaration.
Court documents reveal that Dr. Mkor, 50, is accused of knowingly sending sexually explicit and obscene messages via WhatsApp to at least three individuals — including Olatunji Olajumoke, Agbindah Abigail Mngusonon, and Ignatius Christabel.
According to the charges, the communications included recorded nude images and videos and were accompanied by threats to publicly disseminate the content — a situation that allegedly caused the victims fear for their safety and mental well-being.
The prosecution, led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stated that the acts contravene Section 24(1)(a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The case file also references a failure to comply with asset declaration regulations, citing Section 27(3)(c) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004.
The court session, held under tight security, marks the latest development in a scandal that has rocked the Benue State Government and sparked widespread public outrage. The case has been adjourned for further hearing, as legal proceedings continue.
