Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has officially assigned portfolios to the newly sworn-in commissioners, marking a crucial step in the consolidation of his administration.
The announcement, made today at the Government House, Makurdi, sees a blend of technocrats and seasoned professionals strategically placed to drive the governor’s development agenda across key sectors of the state.
According to the list released, the commissioners will head the following ministries:
Dr. Ortese Yanmar – Ministry of Cooperative
Dr. Fredrick Ikyaan – Ministry of Lands
Michael Oglegba – Ministry of Finance
Tiza Isaac Imojime – Ministry of Youths
Alumo Orpin – Ministry of Industry
Ugwu Odoh – Ministry of Water Resources
Kunde Aondowase – Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs
Kwaghgba Amande – Ministry of ICT
Joseph Ter Jir – Ministry of Power
James Dwem – Ministry of Science and Technology
Dr. Ornguga Yangien – Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice
Theresa Odachi Ikwue – Ministry of Women Affairs
Dr. Benjamin Ashaver – Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security

Governor Alia, while addressing the commissioners, urged them to see their appointments as a call to service and to work with dedication, transparency, and innovation. He emphasized that his government’s “Renewed Hope” blueprint aims to reposition Benue State as an economic hub, create jobs for the teeming youths, and deliver people-centered governance.
The governor also appealed for synergy among the commissioners, stressing that the collective success of his administration would depend on teamwork, accountability, and service delivery.
This development is seen as a major milestone in the Alia administration, as the newly appointed commissioners are expected to hit the ground running and translate government policies into tangible development for the people of Benue State.
