A 200-level student of Computer Science at Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, has been abducted by unknown gunmen in a shocking incident that has left both the academic and religious communities in deep distress.
The young man, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, was kidnapped at a plaza directly opposite the College of Health Sciences in Makurdi, Benue State.
Eyewitnesses say the attackers struck in broad daylight, whisking him away before security forces could intervene.
What has intensified the public outcry is the victim’s well-known dedication to community service.
He is a devoted member of the NKST Church Iortyer, where he has been serving diligently in the media unit.
Church members describe him as a “savior of the screen,” often spending long hours ensuring services run smoothly through digital projection and livestreams.
“This young man is a gift to our church. He has been selfless, committed, and passionate about God’s work. It is heartbreaking,” said one church elder.
The abductors are reportedly demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for his release.
Unfortunately, the student’s family is extremely poor and currently unable to meet the demands.
“This is a devastating situation for us,” a close family friend said. “His parents cannot even afford basic healthcare, talk less of a ransom in millions.”
The church and student community are appealing to the public, government authorities, and security agencies to intervene urgently to secure his safe release.
Many have taken to social media to express their concern, using hashtags like #SaveOurBrother and #BSUStudentKidnapped to raise awareness.
Security agencies have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, but sources within the state police command say investigations are ongoing.
As the clock ticks, his community continues to pray, hoping that this “savior” will be saved.
