A young political hopeful, Mr. Desmond Ameh, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Benue State House of Assembly, representing Ohimini State Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

Ameh, who hails from Ohimini Local Government Area, described his aspiration as a call to service, stating that his decision was motivated by the need to offer quality representation and champion the cause of his people at the state level.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja recently, Ameh emphasized that Ohimini deserves stronger legislative advocacy, particularly in areas of education, rural infrastructure, youth empowerment, and agricultural development.

“My vision is to bring the voice of Ohimini to the center of policy-making in Benue. Our people are hardworking, resilient, and resourceful, but they need an assembly member who will not only legislate effectively but also attract projects and opportunities that will transform our constituency,” he said.

He pledged to run an inclusive campaign that prioritizes dialogue and grassroots engagement, assuring traditional rulers, youth groups, women associations, and community leaders of his readiness to partner with them.

Political watchers in the state note that Ameh’s ambition reflects a growing wave of young aspirants positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls, with many banking on fresh ideas and people-driven politics to unseat long-standing figures.

While consultations are ongoing, Ameh expressed optimism that his message of renewal and service will resonate with the electorate.

“2027 is not just about elections; it is about redefining governance. If given the mandate, I will ensure that Ohimini takes its rightful place in Benue State’s development journey,” he stated.
