The much-anticipated Dooyum Dio Foundation Football Tournament kicked off yesterday in Mbake Council Ward, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, drawing football enthusiasts from across the region.

The grassroots competition aims to promote unity among the youth, foster discipline, and unearth hidden football talents within the council ward.
In today’s fixture, Holy Cross of Tian delivered an emphatic 3–0 victory over Super Stars of Agric, setting a high standard for the games ahead. The match was filled with dazzling displays of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship, earning loud cheers from the crowd.

The tournament is sponsored by the Dooyum Dio Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Ernest Dio, an indigene of Konshisha who resides in the USA.
The foundation is headed by Dr. Vershima Orvell-Diô as Director General. While primarily focused on advancing educational opportunities for youth in Konshisha and beyond, the foundation also invests in sports as a tool for empowerment and community development.
Speaking on the initiative, organisers noted that beyond the thrill of competition, the event is designed to build stronger community ties, encourage teamwork, and inspire young people to pursue both academic and sporting excellence.

The tournament winner will walk away with a ₦300,000 cash prize, adding extra excitement to the competition.
With the opening matches already delivering action-packed moments, football lovers in Konshisha are in for days of exhilarating grassroots football.
