The 2025 edition of the Dooyum Dio Foundation Football Tournament has officially kicked off in the Mbake Council Ward, promising weeks of intense grassroots football action and community excitement.

The competition, which began on Saturday, August 9, features top local teams including City Boys FC, City Galaxy FC Korinya, Igba Aka FC, Mighty Junior FC Avi, Superstars FC Agric, Holy Cross FC Tian, and Igba Aka FC Ansha.

Matches are scheduled to run through the month of August, with the group stage setting the stage for the semi-finals on September 4 and 5. The third-place match will take place on September 9, while the grand finale is set for September 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

Organisers say the tournament aims to promote unity, talent discovery, and sportsmanship among youths in the Mbake community, while also fostering a vibrant sporting culture.

Football enthusiasts from across the region are expected to turn out in large numbers to cheer their favourite teams as the battle for the coveted trophy intensifies.
