In a proactive move to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 28,000 tactical operatives nationwide.

The directive, issued by Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, aims to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets during the festive period, as announced in response to the public holidays declared by the Federal Ministry of Interior for June 6 and 9, 2025.
The deployment, described as a “massive security strategy,” involves personnel from specialized units, including the Intelligence Directorate, Special Female Squad, Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Quick Response Tactical Team, Counter Terrorism Unit, Operations Department, and Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) operatives.
These officers will be stationed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to cover high-traffic areas such as prayer grounds, markets, recreational centers, motor parks, and critical infrastructure like government buildings and diplomatic zones.
Dr. Audi emphasized the Corps’ commitment to forestalling criminal activities during the festive season, stating, “This deployment is part of our unwavering determination to protect critical national assets and ensure the safety of lives and property.”
He highlighted the importance of credible intelligence and community engagement, urging NSCDC state commandants to strengthen synergies with other security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to maintain law and order.
In the FCT, Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced the deployment of 4,500 personnel to secure all six area councils, city centers, and vulnerable locations such as shopping malls, amusement parks, and places of worship.
Specialized units like the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) team have been mobilized to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Odumosu warned criminals to steer clear of critical infrastructure, noting that covert operatives are actively monitoring the capital.
Other states have also seen significant deployments. In Kwara, 2,900 personnel will cover the 16 local government areas, focusing on prayer grounds and recreational centers. Gombe has deployed 900 officers to secure strategic locations, while Osun and Kaduna commands have mobilized 1,550 and 1,500 personnel, respectively, to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
In Kano, 3,168 operatives will work alongside other agencies to maintain order and manage traffic flow.
The NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, CSC Afolabi Babawale, stated that the Corps is leveraging improved intelligence-gathering techniques and community partnerships to preempt security threats.
“The bedrock of any successful security operation is credible intelligence. We call on the public to support us by reporting suspicious activities promptly,” he said.
Dr. Audi extended heartfelt Eid-el-Kabir greetings to the Muslim Ummah, urging them to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and national development.
He reassured Nigerians of the NSCDC’s commitment to a safe celebration, saying, “Go about your lawful activities without fear. Our personnel are on high alert to ensure a peaceful Sallah.”
The Corps has also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing actionable information to prevent any breaches.
With this robust deployment, the NSCDC aims to deliver a secure and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Nigeria.
