The Federal Government has approved a total of ₦2.38 trillion for critical road and bridge projects across Nigeria.
The decision was reached during Thursday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said the funds will be used for major infrastructure developments spanning several regions.
He revealed that the approved projects include Abuja Road Section I (118km) at a cost of ₦286 billion, Abuja Road Section II (164km) at ₦502 billion, Abuja–Kano Road (72km) at ₦450 billion, Nembe Bridge at ₦156 billion, and the Sokoto–Badagry Corridor Section 2 to Kebbi, a 228km three-lane highway, at ₦961 billion.
In addition, Umahi announced further approvals, including an additional ₦11.42 billion for the Lagos–Shagamu–Ijebu-Ode–Ore road project and ₦8.94 billion for project variation in Niger State.
He disclosed that about 30 percent of the funds for some of the major projects have already been released, enabling contractors to commence work without delay.
The minister emphasized that the full breakdown of all state-level projects above ₦10 billion will be published soon to ensure transparency and public accountability.
He added that the massive investment in infrastructure aligns with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to stimulate economic growth, improve connectivity, and enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians.
