Tension has gripped the Aye Twar Agu community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State following an attack on the premises of St. Paul’s Parish, Aye Twar Agu Center, under the Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala.
The incident, which occurred on the evening of November 2025, was reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen who invaded the church premises, sparking panic among parishioners and residents of the area.
While details on casualties or property damage are yet to be confirmed, community members expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in the region.
In a statement, a local leader called on the relevant authorities and security agencies to take urgent action to safeguard lives and property, warning that failure to act could embolden further attacks.
The Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala has yet to issue an official comment, but residents say the attack has left many in fear for their safety.
Benue State has in recent years witnessed repeated clashes between armed herders and farming communities, often resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property, and mass displacement.
