Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has directed the immediate and indefinite suspension of Mr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Aondona was arrested over serious allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail, marking a scandal that has shocked many within the state.
The suspension, announced on Sunday, June 22, 2025, comes as part of the Governor’s firm stance on accountability and zero tolerance for misconduct in public office.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia emphasized that his administration remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and transparency in governance.
He stressed that no official in his government would be shielded from the law when found guilty of ethical or criminal infractions.
> “Public office is a sacred trust. Anyone who breaches that trust through misconduct or criminal behavior will be shown the way out and face the consequences of their actions,” the Governor declared.
Governor Alia further assured the public that there will be no interference in the legal process, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to justice and the protection of citizens’ rights, particularly those of women and vulnerable groups.
The suspended aide, Mr. Mkor Aondona, is expected to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation and answer to the grave allegations brought against him.
Governor Alia reiterated that his government would continue to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is not only done but seen to be done.
