Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has affirmed his administration’s respect for legislative oversight by upholding the resolutions of the Benue State House of Assembly concerning the suspension of three top government officials.
In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Governor confirmed that the decision followed resolutions transmitted to his office by the Assembly.
According to the directive, the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, has been suspended for one month effective immediately.
Similarly, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Grace Adagba, has also been suspended for one month, while the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission, Mr. Michael Uper, faces the same sanction.
Governor Alia emphasized that the move underscores his unwavering commitment to the rule of law, due process, and the principle of separation of powers.
He commended the House of Assembly for exercising its constitutional responsibility and reassured the people of Benue that his administration remains dedicated to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
He further urged the affected institutions to ensure smooth continuity of service delivery during the suspension period.
The Governor also appealed to the people of the state to continue supporting his administration in its efforts to build a responsive and inclusive government.
