Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Board and Management of the state-owned football club, Lobi Stars FC, Makurdi.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the decision is aimed at repositioning the club for improved efficiency, accountability, and enhanced performance in both the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and other competitions.
Governor Alia directed all members of the dissolved board and management to hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Creativity without delay.
While appreciating the outgoing management for their dedication and contributions to the club and the state, the Governor assured that a new management structure will soon be unveiled to steer Lobi Stars into a new phase of growth and competitiveness.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development as a key instrument for youth empowerment, talent discovery, and social cohesion in Benue State.
The Governor emphasized that the move reflects his administration’s determination to restore the glory of Lobi Stars FC and ensure it becomes one of the leading clubs in Nigeria’s football scene.
