Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia has launched a new security initiative known as the Quick Response Squad (QRS) to combat insecurity and improve the protection of lives and property in Benue State.

The initiative, which was officially inaugurated by Deputy Governor Dr. Sam Ode on behalf of Governor Alia, is a multi-agency operation designed to ensure rapid response to security emergencies, especially in rural and high-risk communities.

The QRS is made up of personnel drawn from the Civilian Protection Guard (CPG), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), local hunters, and the Joint Task Force (JTF).

Together, these operatives are expected to work in synergy to swiftly counter threats ranging from banditry to communal violence.

According to the state government, the formation of the QRS is part of broader efforts to restore peace, rebuild trust within communities, and allow displaced persons to return to their ancestral lands.

More details on deployment strategy, command structure, and operations of the QRS are expected to be released in the coming days.
