Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has directed the reinstatement of three top public officials whose suspensions were earlier approved by the State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 1, 2025, by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Governor acknowledged the Assembly’s resolution under the leadership of the new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, which lifted the suspensions during its plenary on August 25, 2025.
Those affected by the reinstatement are Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mrs. Grace Adagba, Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and Mr. Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission.
Governor Alia emphasized that his directive was in compliance with the legislative resolution and reaffirmed his respect for the constitutional roles of the Assembly. He stressed that his administration remains committed to fostering cooperation among all arms of government for peace, progress, and good governance in Benue State.
The Governor also urged the reinstated officials to rededicate themselves to duty, maintain accountability, and serve the people with renewed diligence. He further expressed appreciation for the understanding and support of the people of Benue State and assured them of his continued commitment to building a transparent, responsive, and people-centered administration.
