Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer initiative to over 27,000 vulnerable residents in the state.

The governor’s commendation was contained in a statement released on Saturday by his aide on entrepreneurship development, Meflyn Anwana, in Abuja.

According to the statement, each beneficiary received a sum of ₦75,000 as part of the programme aimed at reducing poverty and cushioning the effects of the current economic hardship.

Governor Eno described the initiative as a timely and strategic intervention that aligns with his administration’s inclusive governance style and humanitarian-driven agenda.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony held at the Women Development Centre in Uyo, Governor Eno, who was represented by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Helen Obareki, commended the President for putting the welfare of the poor at the forefront of national policy.

He emphasized that the initiative was a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring no Nigerian is left behind in its social investment drive.

Eno reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to partner with the Federal Government in supporting the most vulnerable citizens of Akwa Ibom through the ARISE Agenda.

He stressed that the Conditional Cash Transfer programme was not just about financial handouts, but about restoring dignity and empowering communities.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Eno noted that his administration has prioritized social welfare by integrating humanitarian responses into the state’s policy framework.

He revealed that the state government has so far delivered 205 homes to the needy, provided monthly stipends to 600 elderly citizens, and facilitated health insurance coverage for 1,287 senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Additionally, the administration has awarded educational grants to 243 students with disabilities, supported micro, small, and medium enterprises with both equipment and funding, and empowered youths across the state with ₦50,000 grants.

Governor Eno concluded that the state’s policies are built not merely on distributing food or cash, but on fostering sustainable empowerment, driving inclusive development, and building a society where no one is left behind.
