Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres has turned down a lucrative move to Juventus, rejecting a proposed five-year contract worth €13 million per season, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Juventus were reportedly prepared to table a bid exceeding £60 million to lure the prolific striker from Portuguese giants Sporting CP.
The offer would have made Gyökeres one of the highest earners at the Turin club, signaling Juve’s serious intent to bolster their attacking options.
However, the 26-year-old striker, who scored over 40 goals in all competitions last season, is understood to have declined the proposal, choosing to remain with Sporting for the time being or explore other potential options.
Gyökeres’ decision comes as a blow to the Bianconeri, who are keen on rebuilding under new manager Thiago Motta. The Swedish international’s future remains uncertain, with several top European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Sporting are also believed to be holding firm on his release clause, said to be in the region of €100 million.
