Nigeria’s celebrated chef, Hilda Baci, has once again etched her name into the record books after achieving an extraordinary culinary milestone with food brand, Gino Nigeria.
Together, they prepared the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing a massive 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lbs 9 oz). The feat, which has been officially recognized, rekindles the record-breaking spirit Baci ignited across Africa during her famous cook-a-thon in 2023.
According to Baci, the record-breaking dish was the result of “nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork.” Over 1,200 kilograms of gas were used to cook the steaming hot rice, which was served generously in 16,600 plates to guests and community members.
The chef described the achievement as more than just cooking—it was about unity, culture, and showcasing the global appeal of Nigerian cuisine. “We served it with joy, love, and community,” she said.
This latest recognition cements Baci’s status as a culinary trailblazer and ambassador of Nigerian food on the global stage.
