Prominent Benue social media influencer, D’naked Elder Zege’Orkwande, visited the Benue State Police Command earlier today in a bid to secure the release of fellow Benue indigenes arrested during the recent “Stop Benue Killings” protest.
According to Zege’Orkwande, his efforts were backed by the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh—Benue’s third-ranking political officeholder—who, along with other Assembly members, pleaded for the detainees’ release. The police reportedly gave assurances that the protesters would be freed.
However, hours later, Zege’Orkwande disclosed that the detainees were not released. Instead, he watched them—visibly wounded—led back into custody, with bail ultimately denied.
“This is a big slap on the Honourable Speaker’s face,” Zege’Orkwande wrote, raising concerns that there may be unseen forces influencing the continued detention.
He has since called on popular activist Verydarkblackman and other concerned Nigerians to join in demanding justice and transparency in the case.
“We can’t even cry in peace again? God is watching,” he added.
