The ongoing 2025 Hajj exercise continues to record remarkable progress, with the number of Nigerian pilgrims successfully airlifted back home now reaching 6,528, according to the latest update from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

On Tuesday, June 17, Max Air completed its 16th inbound flight, further boosting the figures in the return phase of the pilgrimage operations.

The flight, with designation VM265, departed Jeddah for Lagos at 08:33hrs, carrying a total of 560 individuals — including 550 pilgrims and 10 officials.

NAHCON’s Command and Control Centre in Makkah provided a breakdown of the latest batch of returnees, stating that 549 pilgrims were from Oyo State, while one pilgrim hailed from Plateau State, highlighting the Commission’s continued efforts in organizing state-based repatriation.

This latest flight marks a significant milestone in the return journey of Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of completed flights to 16. NAHCON has reiterated its commitment to a safe, orderly, and timely airlift for all pilgrims.

In a statement released via the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform, NAHCON assured Nigerians that the welfare and comfort of pilgrims remain their top priority.

“We are committed to ensuring every Nigerian pilgrim returns safely and comfortably. The coordinated efforts of our teams and partners are yielding positive results, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of all pilgrims,” the Commission stated.

With the Hajj season gradually winding down, authorities say they remain focused on maintaining the current pace of return operations and ensuring that every pilgrim is transported home without delay.
