The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Joseph Keffi, has lauded security operatives for their swift response that led to the successful rescue of residents abducted in separate incidents within the council.
The kidnappings, which took place earlier in the week in different communities, involved Mr. Saaondo, Mr. Terfa and Mrs. Msuurshima, who were abducted on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Atôô village. In a related incident, Mrs. Hembadoon Akiki, Mr. Terzungwe Iortyom and Mrs. Kadoon Iortyom were kidnapped on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Adem in Bar Council Ward.
All the victims were later released after a coordinated security operation carried out by multiple agencies.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Beetseh Terhide Mark, Keffi praised the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local community leaders. He also confirmed that two suspects, identified as Ushahemba M. and Victor A., were arrested during the operation.
The council chairman warned youths against engaging in criminal activities, especially kidnapping, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
Keffi further assured the people of Makurdi Local Government Area of his administration’s ongoing support for security operatives and its resolve to protect lives and property across the council.
