A married woman popularly known as Mummy Precious has cried out for help following the disappearance of her two-year-old daughter, Precious, after a visit to her lover in Asaba, Delta State.
The distraught mother, who resides in Asaba, alleged that her boyfriend, whose name is yet to be identified, abducted the child after luring her into a hotel stay.
According to her, the man approached her at her Point of Sale (PoS) business, professing love and promising to make up for the pains her estranged husband had caused her. She explained that he frequently sent her money, regularly asked after her daughter, and eventually invited her to meet him in a hotel.
“I met him when I was at my PoS point. He kept showing care, sending me money, and asking about my daughter. He promised to take away all my pains. That’s why I trusted him,” she recounted tearfully.
She said the man booked a room for them at Golak Hotel along Igbuso Road on July 15. The next morning, he left the room with her daughter, claiming he was buying her food. He later introduced a woman as his cousin, who also played with the child before taking her outside. Moments later, both the supposed cousin and the boyfriend vanished.
“When I asked the hotel receptionist, she said she didn’t see anyone. I tried calling his number, but it was switched off. When I called from another line, he hung up after hearing my voice. I even went to Onitsha searching for my daughter, but all efforts failed,” she lamented.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has since joined the search for the missing child. Gwamnishu alleged that the suspect is notorious for seducing single mothers and abducting their children. He shared the man’s photograph on social media, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station.
The Delta State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the case as the search for little Precious intensifies.
