The Mbake Traditional Council, led by Chief Tyoor Mtilesha Mimi, has commended the Dooyum Dio Foundation (DDF) for successfully hosting a football tournament that united communities across Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
The commendation came during the grand finale of the tournament held in Korinya City, where City Boys FC of Korinya defeated Avi’s Mighty Juniors 3-0 to emerge champions. The highlight of the match was the outstanding performance of Valentine Dyuran, who netted a hat trick that sealed victory for the City Boys and became the talk of the town.
Speaking at the event, Chief Mtilesha and other traditional rulers applauded the initiative, noting that the foundation’s efforts went beyond football. They said the tournament fostered unity, promoted healthy competition, and showcased the importance of grassroots talent development.
“The Dooyum Dio Foundation’s emphasis on grassroots football, talent nurturing, and community building aligns with our council’s vision of promoting peace, unity, and order at the grassroots,” Chief Mtilesha stated.
The council further highlighted that the tournament provided a rare opportunity for young people from different communities to come together, build friendships, and showcase their skills. They also stressed that such programs could play a crucial role in discovering and nurturing future football stars.
In light of the tournament’s success, the Mbake Traditional Council urged other sons and daughters of Konshisha to emulate the example set by the Dooyum Dio Foundation by investing in initiatives that promote unity, development, and peaceful coexistence.
The council expressed optimism about continued collaboration with the Dooyum Dio Foundation and other stakeholders to sustain efforts toward the well-being and progress of communities across the region.
