The Adamawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 589.536 kilograms of assorted hard drugs and arrested 107 suspects, including women, within the past two months.
The State Commander, Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters along Numan Road, Yola.
He described the achievement as a reflection of the agency’s renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and the restoration of public trust in Nigeria’s anti-drug campaign.
“Since I assumed duty two months ago, our period has been marked by intense activity, strategic engagements, and significant breakthroughs,” Abubakar said.
“These efforts align with the vision of our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd), under the three-pronged approach of supply reduction, demand reduction, and advocacy.”
According to him, the drugs intercepted include cannabis, Tramadol, Exol-5, Pentozacine injections, methamphetamine, codeine tablets, promethazine injections, and Rohypnol, all weighing a combined 589.536kg.
Abubakar further revealed that six properties in Mubi and Yola suspected to be connected to the drug trade, as well as several vehicles used for storage and distribution, are currently under interim forfeiture proceedings.
On prosecutions, the commander said the command had already secured 15 convictions, while 50 cases are pending at different stages before the Federal High Court, Yola.
He issued a stern warning to those engaged in illicit drug activities to desist, stressing that the NDLEA will not relent in ensuring traffickers face the full weight of the law.
