The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, has taken a major step toward ending medical tourism with the delivery of world-class clinical equipment by United International Technologies (UIT).
Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, said the modern facilities would enable patients to access global-standard healthcare in Benue rather than traveling abroad.
He expressed confidence that the new equipment would transform BSUTH into a center of medical excellence.
At the presentation ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Beatrice Tsavbu, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for prioritizing tertiary healthcare, noting that BSUTH serves as a referral center for complex cases beyond primary and secondary facilities.
The equipment, covering Medicine, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Intensive Care Unit, and Anatomical Pathology and Hematology, includes Cryostat, Rotary Microtome, Microscopes, and Hematology Auto Analyzers.
Chairman of UIT, Mr. Muhammed Wansa, said the company ensured timely delivery by airlifting the equipment, while another consignment is expected by sea in September. He assured that the quality meets international standards and pledged continuous partnership with the state.
