Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Thursday inaugurated a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale, lease, and management of state and local government assets, markets, companies, and moribund industries.
The commission is chaired by retired Justice Samson Itodo, who was sworn in alongside the Governor’s new Chief of Staff, Barrister Moses Atagher, during a ceremony held at the Exco Extension Hall of Government House, Makurdi.
Governor Alia charged Justice Itodo to ensure accountability, transparency, and fairness in the assignment, urging him to stand by the truth and deliver recommendations in the best interest of the state. “This task requires firmness and honesty. You must be fair, just, and accountable so that justice is done for the people of Benue,” he said.
Justice Itodo, in his remarks, assured the Governor that he would bring the same zeal he had shown in a similar assignment earlier this year to the new commission. He promised that the committee would work diligently to deliver on its mandate.
