Fresh anxiety has gripped Benue State following the mysterious disappearance of two individuals, one of whom is a top aide to Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The first case involves Atu Terver, popularly known as Krazyeetee, who serves as the Governor’s Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilisation. Terver was last seen on Tuesday while travelling from Makurdi to Abuja, but he never reached his destination.

His wife, Mrs. Civir Terver, confirmed to reporters on Thursday that her husband had set out for the Federal Capital Territory to reunite with his family but never arrived. According to her, the matter has since been reported to the police in Abuja, though no tangible information has been provided so far.

“We reported the case immediately, and the police assured us they were investigating. But as I speak, I still don’t know where my husband is,” she lamented, noting that she had not heard from the state government either.

The second disappearance concerns Asom Jerry, a social media activist whose case has sparked debate across online platforms. While some users allege he was arrested by security operatives, others insist his whereabouts remain a mystery.

Reacting, the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said she had no record of Jerry’s alleged arrest and clarified that Terver’s disappearance occurred outside the state. “I’m just hearing of this supposed arrest from you. As for Governor Alia’s aide, the incident happened in Abuja, not within Benue,” she explained.

Efforts to reach the governor’s media team for comment were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction led by Austin Agada has expressed alarm over the incidents. In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, the group accused Governor Alia of insensitivity and silence in the face of rising fears.

“The unexplained disappearance of two prominent Benue citizens—activist Asom Jerry and the governor’s aide, Atu Terver—has unsettled the public. These events erode confidence in government and question the ability of security agencies to safeguard lives,” the statement read.

The APC faction called on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the missing men while urging the state government to “break its silence, take responsibility, and reassure the people that their safety and rights remain a priority.”
