In a surprising turn of events, notorious bandit kingpin Terhemen Mzaga Ber Gile, popularly known as “Fullfire,” has publicly denied rumours of an impending retaliatory attack on the Ityuluv community in the Sankera axis of Benue State.
Mzaga, who has long been associated with a string of violent activities in the region, took to social media to dispel speculation that he was planning an assault targeting Ityuluv or his brother, Judex—widely known by his alias “Chen Hobbo.”
“The rumours making rounds that I’m planning an attack are completely false,” Fullfire stated in a terse post. “I am not at war with my brother or any community. I urge everyone to remain calm and ignore the lies being spread to stir conflict.”
The statement has generated mixed reactions online, with some residents cautiously welcoming the peace overture, while others remain skeptical, citing Fullfire’s troubled history in the volatile Sankera region—a part of Benue State plagued by years of armed conflict, criminal gangs, and communal unrest.
Security analysts say the public denial is unusual for a figure of Mzaga’s profile, suggesting either internal pressures within his ranks or a strategic repositioning in response to recent security operations.
Local authorities are yet to respond officially to Fullfire’s statement, but sources within the community say increased vigilance remains necessary until the situation becomes clearer.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the Benue State Government and security agencies to restore lasting peace in Sankera and surrounding areas.
