The Benue State House of Assembly has passed a resolution to recognize and honor three exceptional indigenes for their remarkable achievements in academics and sports.
Among the honorees is Mr. Joshua Obekpa, who emerged as the best graduating student from the Nigerian Air Force Military School, Jos, setting a new national record for academic performance. The Assembly commended his outstanding dedication and urged youths to emulate his excellence.
Also honored is Super Falcons forward, Francisca Ordega, for her stellar performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where the Nigerian women’s national football team clinched the championship title. Lawmakers lauded her contribution to the nation’s sporting success and her role as an inspiration to young athletes.
In addition, the Assembly passed a resolution urging Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, to offer Mr. Ushahemba Benedict, a First Class Law graduate, the right of first refusal for academic employment or other relevant engagement in recognition of his academic brilliance.
Speaker of the House emphasized that the recognition was part of the Assembly’s commitment to celebrating excellence and motivating Benue citizens to strive for distinction in their chosen fields.
