The Benue State House of Assembly has announced a sweeping reorganisation of its leadership structure, appointing new principal officers for both the majority and minority caucuses.

The development, which was confirmed in a statement on Thursday by the Press Secretary to the Speaker, Zape Michael Upaa, is aimed at strengthening legislative business and improving coordination within the 10th Assembly.

According to the new arrangement, Hon. Thomas Dugeri now takes charge as the Majority Leader, while Hon. Abraham Jabi has been appointed Deputy Majority Leader. Hon. Cyril Ikong assumes the position of Majority Chief Whip, with Hon. Simon Gabo stepping in as Deputy Majority Whip.

On the opposition side, Hon. Abu Umoro emerges as the Minority Leader, with Hon. Cephase Dyako named his deputy. Hon. Samuel Jiji is the new Minority Whip, while Hon. Moses Egbodo will serve as Deputy Minority Whip.

The Assembly leadership assured that the reorganisation was necessary to reposition the legislature for effective service delivery to the people of Benue State, adding that more details on the changes would be made available in due course.
