In a bid to support displaced persons returning to their ancestral homes, the Benue State Government has distributed food and non-food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Tatyough Mbagwen, Makurdi Local Government Area.

The intervention, carried out on the directive of Governor Hyacinth Alia, was overseen by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, PhD.

According to Iorpuu, the initiative is aimed at easing the hardship faced by returnees as they rebuild their lives, while also serving as encouragement to those still in IDP camps to return home.

He further disclosed that relief items were extended to security operatives deployed in the affected communities, in recognition of their role in safeguarding lives and property and ensuring peace and stability.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government for the timely intervention, pledging to make good use of the support provided as they continue efforts to restore normalcy in their communities.
