The Principal Special Assistant to Benue State Governor on Youth and Media Mobilization, Atu Terver, has alleged that diabolical items, including charms and sacrifices, were buried at the popular Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi, the state capital.

The roundabout, one of the busiest intersections in the state, was recently demolished to pave way for the construction of a giant flyover by the Federal Government. The project followed Governor Hyacinth Alia’s appeal to President Bola Tinubu for infrastructural development in Benue.

While the demolition has generated mixed reactions, with some critics describing it as insignificant and unnecessary, Atu defended the decision. Writing on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, he described the move as one of the best things to have happened to the state.

According to him, beyond the physical development, the demolition also carried spiritual significance. He claimed that several charms and sacrifices had been buried at the location over the years, allegedly contributing to underdevelopment and frequent road accidents in the area.

“Some things are more spiritual than physical, and it takes more than the physical eyes of a highly spiritual person like Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to see them,” Atu wrote. “The governor is a powerful priest. Neutralizing those charms and sacrifices has already opened the way for massive development in the state.”

He added that the so-called “spiritual cleansing” had brought noticeable changes, including the reduction of accidents at the roundabout, while expressing optimism that the ongoing flyover project would accelerate progress in Alia’s administration.

Atu concluded that the demolition was not only a physical exercise but also a step toward dismantling alleged spiritual hindrances, insisting that Benue State would witness greater transformation in the governor’s remaining years in office.
